Bureau of Geological Consultancy S.A. (Bugeco) is an internationally recognized independent consultancy registered in Belgium in 1989.

Bugeco :

Past and Present

Until 2002, Bugeco was involved in traditional consultancy services for geological, hydro-geological and environmental purposes on behalf of a wide range of clients (both major and junior mining companies), the Belgian Government (Technical cooperation with emerging countries), the World Bank, Sysmin (EU), EIB, IFC and private banking institutions).

Completed mineral resources inventories and studies on the specific mining potential of many African, Latin American, Asian and Eastern-European countries.

Supervised exploration projects and mining operations.

Performed mining and reserves evaluation and also financial and technical audit/due diligence.

Provided short and long-term assistance as support to the national development of the mineral resources in developing countries.

Reviewed, advised and collaborated with the World Bank and western government agencies on the creation of new mining, fiscal and environmental legislation.

It has undertaken metallurgical consultancy, studied waste disposal sites and made environmental studies related to mining activities.

Carried out studies for the supply of water and other hydrological studies.

Present

Bugeco has had a representative office in the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 2005. It has entered into a joint venture agreement with Swala Resources (now Concordia Resource Corp) to promote the exploration of potentially important base metals anomalies based on proprietary data. These have led to two agreements (with Anglo American and i-Pulse HPX) for early-stage exploration in eastern Kasai and Katanga provinces.

With such diversified expertise, Bugeco has established lasting and professional contacts all over the world.

Bugeco has also provided clients with geological and political/economic analytical reports on various countries in Africa.

Bugeco consists nowadays of an alliance of a number of independent experts (Bugeco Associates), grouped together under the Bugeco banner, all of whom have previously held senior positions in major mining companies, or have established reputations as independent consultants in their own field.

It has, through this network, an extraordinary wealth of contacts in the African mining environment – not only with exploration and mining companies but also with governments at all levels.
While these Associates continue to operate independently in their own disciplines, they contribute as members of a team to provide expertise across the spectrum of mining activities from exploration and evaluation to metallurgy, geophysics, engineering and project management.
